To truly build inclusive faith communities, where all members of the body of Christ feel valued and known, it’s essential to examine the impacts of the reverse: what happens when people are excluded? By exploring the immigrant and refugee experience in the US, we highlight the importance of inclusion and belonging and how to consider elevating the dignity of those who are marginalized. Participants see the impacts of exclusion, the harm of assimilation, and what happens when the perspectives and stories of others are not recognized, valued, or considered.
